Who We Are
The Zhou lab is part of the Integrative Microbiology Research Centre and the College of Plant Protection at South China Agricultural University. Our lab explores a fundamental evolutionary question: Why and how do microbes become pathogens? We answer this by connecting data with discovery.
We use computational biology to find evolutionary clues from big data and generate hypotheses. We then test these ideas through rigorous experiments in the lab, uncovering the molecular story behind how pathogens evolve. Our goal is to bridge genes and traits, understand evolution, and develop new strategies for sustainable agriculture.
